About Us
In 1999, former
Pettisville High School Alumni and past Archbold Mayor, the late Chuck
Rychener, formed the Archbold Character Council with the intention of
strengthening the citizens and families of Archbold through the
promotion of good character. However, we have discovered that the
Archbold program has been an inspiration to other schools and
communities around Northwest Ohio.
Our ability to reach others through assemblies and
events has had an impact. Because of the interest from other communities
and our desire to promote character in other school districts, we
decided to change our name from the Archbold Character Council to The
Northwest Ohio Character Council, and we are already seeing positive
results from this change.
Over the past seven years, the Character Council has been promoting
different character qualities through the signs that you have seen
throughout the Archbold community and soon to be placed in Pettisville
and Ridgeville Corners communities. We have given recognition to
students exhibiting good character, and also by assisting the National
Honor Society (NHS) students in giving character assemblies to the
elementary grades throughout the past several school years.
Additionally, in 2004, we sponsored a Northwest Ohio
character assembly, which included 250 students from four different
schools.
